Ingredients:
- 2 cups (475ml) Whole Milk
- 2 ounces (55g) Dark Chocolate (at least 70% cacao), chopped
- 1/4 cup (25g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (or more, to taste)
- Pinch of sea salt
- Optional: Whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate shavings, cinnamon sticks for garnish
Instructions:
- In the saucepan, combine milk, chopped chocolate, cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and salt.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, whisking constantly until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth. Do not boil.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 2-3 minutes, whisking occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.
- Taste the hot chocolate and adjust sweetness or spice level to your liking.
- Pour into mugs and garnish with whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate shavings, or a cinnamon stick, if desired. Serve immediately.
