Ingredients:

  • 1 (750ml) bottle of dry red wine (e.g., Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot)
  • 4 cups (950ml) apple cider
  • 1 cup (240ml) spiced rum or brandy
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) orange liqueur (e.g., Cointreau, Triple Sec)
  • 1 large apple, cored and thinly sliced (Gala, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Optional: Sparkling apple cider or ginger ale for topping

Instructions:

  1. Slice the apples and orange into thin rounds.
  2. In the pitcher, combine the red wine, apple cider, spiced rum/brandy, orange liqueur, sliced apple, sliced orange, cinnamon sticks, and ground cloves. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (ideally 2 hours or overnight) to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Before serving, add sparkling apple cider or ginger ale (if using) for a bubbly finish.
  5. Serve over ice, garnished with extra apple and orange slices.
