Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (220g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (90g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and pale.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges look set but the centers are still soft.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
