Ingredients:
- 2 ½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- ½ cup (120ml) whole milk, warmed
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup (150g) mixed fresh fruits (e.g., strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, kiwifruit), chopped
- ½ cup (120ml) fruit-flavored jelly (e.g., raspberry or apricot)
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons milk or water
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Combine warmed milk and egg; pour into dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead briefly until smooth, then cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix chopped fruits with jelly; set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface into a rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
- Cut slits along the long sides of the dough, leaving the center intact.
- Spread the fruit and jelly mixture along the center of the dough.
- Fold the slits over the filling in an alternating pattern to create a braided effect.
- Transfer the formed ring to the prepared baking sheet. Brush with an egg wash (optional) for a golden finish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Adjust consistency as needed.
- Drizzle glaze over the cooled Danish ring. Serve warm or at room temperature.
