Ingredients:
- 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon (6g) baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugars together in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Use an electric mixer for easier mixing; this takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Add egg and vanilla to the creamed mixture. Mix until fully combined.
- Whisk together dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, and salt) in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips by hand using a spatula.
- Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheet, spacing cookies about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are golden. Cookies will appear slightly underbaked in the center.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
