Ingredients:

  • 1 box (15.25 oz/432g) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (50g) chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 (20 oz/567g) can crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 3 medium ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 (10 oz/283g) jar maraschino cherries, drained and halved
  • 1 cup (2 sticks/226g) unsalted butter, melted
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Chocolate syrup (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Spread the undrained crushed pineapple evenly over the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Arrange the sliced bananas evenly over the pineapple layer.
  4. Sprinkle the halved maraschino cherries over the bananas.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the fruit layer.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped pecans or walnuts evenly over the cake mix.
  7. Pour the melted butter evenly over the entire surface of the cake mix and nut layer.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool slightly before serving. Top with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and sprinkles, if desired.
