Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for grilling)
  • 1 cup ripe peaches, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine diced peaches, BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and cayenne. Cook over medium heat until peaches break down and the sauce thickens (about 10 minutes).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, diced onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix until just combined; do not overwork the meat.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties. Chill the patties in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to help them hold together on the grill.
  4. Preheat the grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Brush with olive oil. Grill the turkey patties for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. In the last minute of grilling, brush the BBQ peach glaze over each turkey burger and cook until caramelized.
  6. Remove the burgers from the grill and serve on buns with additional glaze if desired.
