Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
- 1/4 cup diced onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for grilling)
- 1 cup ripe peaches, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, combine diced peaches, BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and cayenne. Cook over medium heat until peaches break down and the sauce thickens (about 10 minutes).
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, diced onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix until just combined; do not overwork the meat.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties. Chill the patties in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to help them hold together on the grill.
- Preheat the grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Brush with olive oil. Grill the turkey patties for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- In the last minute of grilling, brush the BBQ peach glaze over each turkey burger and cook until caramelized.
- Remove the burgers from the grill and serve on buns with additional glaze if desired.
