Ingredients:
- 2 large ripe tomatoes, diced
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- 1 fresh jalapeño pepper, seeds removed and minced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Juice of 1 lime
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
Instructions:
- Dice the tomatoes and place them in a mixing bowl.
- Finely chop the red onion and add to the tomatoes.
- Mince the jalapeño pepper and incorporate into the bowl.
- Chop the cilantro and add it to the mixture.
- Squeeze the juice of one lime over the mixture.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste; add ground cumin if desired.
- Gently stir all ingredients together until well combined.
- Taste the salsa and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
