Ingredients:
- 8 ounces (225g) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup (1 stick/113g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3-4 cups (360-480g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 1-2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 2-4 tablespoons milk (whole milk or 2% milk)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar to the cream cheese mixture, beating on low speed at first, then increase speed to medium once incorporated.
- Add the vanilla extract and salt to the frosting. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the milk, one tablespoon at a time, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or tanginess as needed. Add more powdered sugar for sweetness or lemon juice for tang.
- Generously frost slightly cooled cinnamon buns with the cream cheese frosting. Serve immediately.
