Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold milk (dairy or alternative) or water
  • ½ cup (120 g) plain Greek yogurt, Skyr, or cottage cheese (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) honey, maple syrup, or agave (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) chia seeds or ground flaxseed (optional)
  • ½ medium fresh banana (50 g)
  • 1 ½ cups (225 g) mixed frozen fruit (berries, mango chunks, pineapple, or peaches)
  • 3-4 ice cubes (optional, if needed)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Base Liquid. Measure and pour the liquid base (milk, water, or juice) into the blender pitcher first. This step is crucial as it lubricates the blade and ensures efficient blending.
  2. Add Soft Ingredients and Enhancers. Add the yogurt, fresh banana, liquid sweeteners, and powders (like chia seeds). Briefly pulse the blender for 2-3 seconds to mix the soft base ingredients evenly.
  3. Load the Frozen Fruit. Add the measured frozen fruit directly on top of the soft base mixture. If the frozen fruit pieces are very large, ensure they are broken up slightly before adding them.
  4. Blend to Perfection. Secure the lid tightly. Start blending on a low speed for 15 seconds to break down the largest chunks, then increase the speed to medium-high or the designated Smoothie setting. Blend for 45–60 seconds, or until the sound changes to a smooth, uniform hum. If the mixture stalls, turn off the blender and use a tamper or spatula to push the frozen contents down, adding 1-2 tablespoons of liquid if absolutely necessary.
  5. Check Consistency and Serve. Check the texture. If it’s too thin, add 3-4 more frozen fruit pieces or ice cubes and blend again briefly. Divide the smoothie equally into serving glasses and serve immediately while it is still icy cold.
