Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, plus extra for greasing
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (150g) packed light brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (90g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (150g) chopped walnuts (optional)
- ½ cup (120ml) heavy cream
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the baking pan.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and add both sugars, stirring until combined.
- Incorporate eggs one at a time, then whisk in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Add walnuts, if using.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 25 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Prepare the ganache: In a saucepan, heat cream until simmering, then pour over chocolate chips in a bowl. Let sit for 1 minute, then stir until smooth.
- Spread ganache over brownie layer and allow to cool before slicing.
