Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 8 slices of bread (preferably brioche or Texas toast)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • Additional butter or oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until fully blended and slightly frothy.
  2. Cut each slice of bread into thick strips (about 1 inch wide).
  3. Dip each strip into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge in flour, then coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat until bubbling but not browned.
  5. Place coated bread strips into the skillet in a single layer. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to absorb excess butter. Serve warm with syrup, powdered sugar, or fruit.
