Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 8 slices of bread (preferably brioche or Texas toast)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- Additional butter or oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until fully blended and slightly frothy.
- Cut each slice of bread into thick strips (about 1 inch wide).
- Dip each strip into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge in flour, then coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat until bubbling but not browned.
- Place coated bread strips into the skillet in a single layer. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to absorb excess butter. Serve warm with syrup, powdered sugar, or fruit.
