Ingredients:
- 4 slices of ciabatta bread (or 2 large ciabatta rolls) (about 200g)
- 4 oz (113g) fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 4 oz (113g) prosciutto, thinly sliced
- 1 cup (25g) fresh basil leaves
- 1-2 tablespoons (15-30ml) balsamic glaze (optional)
- 2 tablespoons (30g) unsalted butter, softened
- Olive oil, for brushing (optional)
Instructions:
- Slice the ciabatta bread and mozzarella cheese. Lay out prosciutto and basil for easy access.
- Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each ciabatta slice. On the unbuttered side, layer sliced mozzarella, prosciutto, and basil. Top with another piece of bread, buttered side facing up.
- Heat the grill pan or panini press over medium heat until hot.
- Place in the panini press or grill pan, pressing down gently. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, slice in half, and drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired.
