Ingredients:
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk or buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup (150g) sultanas (golden raisins)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In another bowl, combine milk and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, add sultanas, and stir until just combined.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface, knead gently 2-3 times, and pat into a 1-inch thick round. Cut into wedges or circles.
- Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow the scones to cool on a wire rack before serving.
