Ingredients:
- 8 ounces (225g) cream cheese, full-fat, softened
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3-4 cups (360-480g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2-4 tablespoons (30-60ml) milk or cream
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Add vanilla and salt, then mix well.
- Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until incorporated.
- Add milk or cream, one tablespoon at a time, until the icing reaches your desired consistency. It should be smooth and easily spreadable.
- Taste the icing and adjust sweetness or tanginess as needed. Add more powdered sugar for sweetness or a tiny splash of lemon juice for tang.
- Generously spread the icing over warm cinnamon buns. Serve immediately.
