Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240 ml) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon maple extract (optional)
- Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat.
- Once melted, whisk in the packed brown sugar until smooth.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream, continuing to whisk to combine.
- Increase the heat slightly and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, whisking continuously until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
- If using, add the optional maple extract and cinnamon, stirring to combine.
- Allow to cool slightly before transferring to a storage container.
