Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon maple extract (optional)
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat.
  2. Once melted, whisk in the packed brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream, continuing to whisk to combine.
  4. Increase the heat slightly and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes, whisking continuously until slightly thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  7. If using, add the optional maple extract and cinnamon, stirring to combine.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before transferring to a storage container.
