Ingredients:
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes
- 4 pieces store bought flatbread
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
Instructions:
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and reaches a velvety consistency. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place the store bought flatbread on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Lightly brush the edges of the flatbread with olive oil to ensure a golden-brown finish.
- Spread 2-3 tablespoons of the flatbread pizza sauce evenly across each base, leaving a 1/2 inch border.
- Top with a generous layer of mozzarella and your choice of easy flatbread toppings.
- Slide the baking sheet into the center rack of the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and edges are mahogany-colored.
- Remove from oven and immediately garnish with fresh basil.
