Ingredients:

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • 4 pieces store bought flatbread
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn

Instructions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
  2. Stir in the tomato sauce, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and reaches a velvety consistency. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place the store bought flatbread on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Lightly brush the edges of the flatbread with olive oil to ensure a golden-brown finish.
  5. Spread 2-3 tablespoons of the flatbread pizza sauce evenly across each base, leaving a 1/2 inch border.
  6. Top with a generous layer of mozzarella and your choice of easy flatbread toppings.
  7. Slide the baking sheet into the center rack of the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and edges are mahogany-colored.
  8. Remove from oven and immediately garnish with fresh basil.
