Ingredients:
- 6 cups mixed fall fruit (apples, pears, peaches), peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
Instructions:
- Toss the sliced fruit with granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and lemon juice directly in a 9x9 inch baking dish. Spread the mixture evenly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, rolled oats, dark brown sugar, and salt.
- Add the chilled, cubed butter to the oat mixture. Use fingers or a pastry cutter to work the butter in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with pea-sized lumps.
- Scatter the oat topping evenly over the fruit without pressing it down.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40–45 minutes until the topping is deep mahogany-gold and the fruit juices are bubbling thicky around the edges.
