Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz / 796 g) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup vegetable or chicken broth
- Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and mix in the tomato paste. Stir until well combined.
- Add sugar, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly.
- Pour in the broth, bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
- Taste and adjust seasonings if needed, adding more salt or herbs as desired.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh basil or parsley before serving with gołąbki.
