Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (950 ml) Water, filtered
  • 1 cup (200g) Granulated Sugar, white
  • 1/4 cup (loosely packed) edible dried flowers (such as lavender, rose petals, or hibiscus)

Instructions:

  1. In the saucepan, combine the filtered water and granulated sugar.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat.
  3. If using dried flowers, add them to the pan. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the flavor.
  4. If you used dried flowers, strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth-lined colander to remove the flowers. Discard the flowers.
  5. Allow the syrup to cool completely before filling your hummingbird feeders.
  6. Store the cooled syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
