Ingredients:
- 2 oz (60 ml) Irish whiskey (e.g., Jameson)
- 3/4 oz (22 ml) fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 oz (15 ml) simple syrup (1:1 sugar to water)
- Ice cubes (for shaking)
- Lemon wheel or slice (for garnish)
- Maraschino cherry (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Combine equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan, heat until sugar dissolves, then cool.
- Using a jigger, measure the whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
- Add ice cubes to the cocktail shaker. Pour in the measured ingredients, secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds, until well chilled.
- Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
- Top with a lemon wheel or slice and a maraschino cherry.
