Ingredients:

  • 2 oz (60 ml) Irish whiskey (e.g., Jameson)
  • 3/4 oz (22 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) simple syrup (1:1 sugar to water)
  • Ice cubes (for shaking)
  • Lemon wheel or slice (for garnish)
  • Maraschino cherry (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Combine equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan, heat until sugar dissolves, then cool.
  2. Using a jigger, measure the whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  3. Add ice cubes to the cocktail shaker. Pour in the measured ingredients, secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds, until well chilled.
  4. Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  5. Top with a lemon wheel or slice and a maraschino cherry.
