Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup (50g) Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 cup (100g) Popcorn Kernels
  • 1/4 cup (50g) Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) Salt

Instructions:

  1. Add oil to a large, heavy-bottomed pot and place over medium-high heat.
  2. Add 2-3 popcorn kernels to the pot. When they pop, the oil is ready. Remove the popped kernels.
  3. Add the remaining popcorn kernels, sugar, and salt to the pot.
  4. Cover the pot tightly and shake vigorously to distribute the sugar and salt.
  5. Continue cooking, shaking the pot occasionally, until the popping slows down (2-3 seconds between pops).
  6. Remove the pot from the heat immediately.
  7. Carefully pour the kettle corn into a large bowl to cool and prevent burning. Taste the kettle corn and add more salt if desired. This kettle corn recipe is best served fresh.
