Ingredients:

  • 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, left attached
  • 6 large Eggs
  • ¼ cup Whole Milk or Single Cream
  • ½ teaspoon Fine Sea Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper, freshly cracked
  • 1 tablespoon Neutral Oil (e.g., Canola)
  • 1 cup Pre-cooked Meat (e.g., crumbled breakfast sausage, or 8 slices crispy bacon, chopped)
  • 5 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese, grated (divided)
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Poppy Seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Dried Onion Flakes (or 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease the 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Using a long serrated knife, carefully slice the entire block of rolls horizontally, separating the tops from the bottoms, but keeping all the rolls attached. Place the bottom half of the rolls into the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk the eggs vigorously with the milk, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  4. Cook the Scramble: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Pour in the egg mixture. Using a rubber spatula, gently push the eggs from the edges to the centre, folding them softly. Cook only until they are just set but still slightly moist. Remove immediately and set aside.
  5. Assembly - Cheese Layer 1: Sprinkle half (¾ cup / 90g) of the grated cheddar evenly over the bottom layer of rolls.
  6. Add Protein: Distribute the pre-cooked bacon or sausage evenly over the cheese layer.
  7. Add Eggs: Carefully spread the warm scrambled eggs over the meat and cheese layer.
  8. Cheese Layer 2: Sprinkle the remaining half (¾ cup / 90g) of cheese over the eggs.
  9. Cap It: Place the top half of the rolls back onto the filling, pressing down gently.
  10. Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and dried onion flakes until fully combined.
  11. Apply the Glaze: Using a pastry brush, liberally brush the entire glaze mixture evenly over the top of the rolls, ensuring some seeps into the creases.
  12. Bake (Covered): Cover the baking dish tightly with foil. Bake for 10 minutes.
  13. Bake (Uncovered): Remove the foil and bake for an additional 8–10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and toasted, and the cheese is fully melted and bubbling.
  14. Rest and Serve: Remove from the oven. Allow the sliders to rest in the pan for 5 minutes. Cut along the seams to separate the individual sliders and serve immediately.
