Ingredients:
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 15g granulated sugar
- 6g fine sea salt
- 10g baking powder
- 5g baking soda
- 350ml full-fat buttermilk
- 45g unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1 large egg
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda for at least 30 seconds to ensure even distribution of leavening agents.
- Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Pour in the buttermilk, melted butter, and egg.
- Using a silicone spatula, gently fold the flour into the liquid reactants. Stop the moment no dry streaks remain; the dough should be shaggy and thick.
- Transfer the dough to the prepared loaf pan without pressing down. Use a sharp knife to slash a 1-inch deep expansion joint down the center of the loaf.
- Bake for 35 minutes or until the crust is mahogany-colored and the internal temperature reaches 190°F. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
