Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (185g) long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups (480ml) water
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 1 tbsp (14g) unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Place the rice in a fine-mesh strainer and run cold water over it. Shake gently until the water running through the bottom is clear.
  2. Add the rinsed rice, water, salt, and butter into the saucepan.
  3. Turn the heat to medium-high and bring the water to a rolling boil without a lid.
  4. As soon as it boils, stir once, cover with the lid tightly, and immediately reduce heat to the lowest possible setting.
  5. Simmer for 15 minutes. Do not lift the lid during this time.
  6. Remove the pan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove the lid and use a fork to gently lift and separate the grains.
