Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (454g) raw peanuts (in shell or shelled)
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon (15ml) kosher salt
  • Optional: 4 cups (946ml) water
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons (30ml) vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread peanuts in a single layer on the baking sheet. Remove any damaged or discolored peanuts.
  3. Optional: Dissolve salt in water. Soak peanuts for 30 minutes to 2 hours. Drain peanuts thoroughly in a colander.
  4. Optional: Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the raw nuts and combine with a spoon.
  5. Spread peanuts in a single layer on the baking sheet. Roast for 15-20 minutes, shaking the pan every 5 minutes, until golden brown and fragrant. Check doneness.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet. The peanuts will crisp up as they cool.
