Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) fresh green beans, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) water
- 2 tablespoons (30g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs (e.g., parsley, chives, thyme), or 1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.5ml) sea salt, or to taste
- 1/8 teaspoon (0.75ml) black pepper, or to taste
Instructions:
- Wash and trim the green beans. Snap off the ends or cut them to a uniform length for even cooking.
- Pour water into the saucepan and place the steamer basket inside. The water level should be below the basket.
- Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Add the green beans to the steamer basket. Cover and steam for 5-7 minutes, or until crisp-tender.
- While the green beans are steaming, combine the softened butter, lemon juice, herbs, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Mix well.
- Remove the steamed green beans from the steamer basket and transfer them to a serving bowl. Add the lemon herb butter and toss gently. Serve immediately.
