Ingredients:

  • 20 oz (567g) crushed pineapple in juice, undrained
  • 1 (15.25 oz / 432g) box yellow cake mix (or white cake mix)
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup (about 50g) chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. Pour the undrained crushed pineapple into the prepared baking dish, spreading evenly.
  4. Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the pineapple. Make sure it covers all of the pineapple.
  5. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
  6. Sprinkle nuts evenly over the cake mix and butter, if using.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (or with a few moist crumbs).
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
