Ingredients:
- 1 (14.3 ounce) package Oreo cookies, original flavor (406g)
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened (113g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5ml) (optional)
- 12 ounces pink candy melts (340g)
- 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening or coconut oil (5ml) (optional)
- Valentine's Day sprinkles (optional)
- Edible glitter (optional)
Instructions:
- Pulse Oreos in a food processor until they form fine crumbs. Alternatively, place Oreos in a resealable bag and crush with a rolling pin.
- In a large bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs and softened cream cheese. Mix until well combined. Add vanilla extract if using.
- Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the mixture to firm up.
- Roll the chilled mixture into 1-inch balls. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the pink candy melts in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Add vegetable shortening or coconut oil if needed for a smoother consistency.
- Dip each truffle into the melted candy coating, using a fork or dipping tools. Allow excess coating to drip off.
- Immediately sprinkle with Valentine's Day sprinkles or edible glitter, if desired.
- Place the dipped truffles back on the parchment-lined baking sheet and allow the candy coating to set completely. You can speed this up by placing them in the refrigerator for a few minutes.
