Ingredients:

  • 1 (14.3 ounce) package Oreo cookies, original flavor (406g)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened (113g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5ml) (optional)
  • 12 ounces pink candy melts (340g)
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening or coconut oil (5ml) (optional)
  • Valentine's Day sprinkles (optional)
  • Edible glitter (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Pulse Oreos in a food processor until they form fine crumbs. Alternatively, place Oreos in a resealable bag and crush with a rolling pin.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs and softened cream cheese. Mix until well combined. Add vanilla extract if using.
  3. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the mixture to firm up.
  4. Roll the chilled mixture into 1-inch balls. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the pink candy melts in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Add vegetable shortening or coconut oil if needed for a smoother consistency.
  6. Dip each truffle into the melted candy coating, using a fork or dipping tools. Allow excess coating to drip off.
  7. Immediately sprinkle with Valentine's Day sprinkles or edible glitter, if desired.
  8. Place the dipped truffles back on the parchment-lined baking sheet and allow the candy coating to set completely. You can speed this up by placing them in the refrigerator for a few minutes.
