Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup (240ml) salsa (mild, medium, or spicy based on preference)
- 1 tablespoon (15g) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon (5g) chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns (preferably whole grain or brioche)
- 1 cup (120g) shredded cheese (cheddar or Monterey Jack)
- Fresh cilantro or parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Chop the onion and mince the garlic.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef.
- Add the onion and garlic; sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the salsa, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the meat mixture, cover, and cook until the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes.
- Spoon the mixture onto the hamburger buns and garnish with cilantro or parsley, if desired.
