Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (400g) Glutinous Rice
  • 2 cups (480ml) Water
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.5g) Salt (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) Coconut Milk (canned, full-fat) - optional

Instructions:

  1. Place the glutinous rice in a mixing bowl and rinse it several times with cold water, until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch.
  2. Add the rinsed rice, water, salt (if using), and coconut milk (if using) to the rice cooker.
  3. Close the rice cooker lid and set it to the white rice or cook setting. Important: If your rice cooker has a sticky rice setting, use that!
  4. Once the rice cooker switches to warm, let the rice sit, undisturbed, for 15 minutes. This allows the rice to fully absorb the remaining moisture and develop its characteristic sticky texture.
  5. Carefully fluff the rice with a spoon or rice paddle. Serve immediately.
