Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs broccoli heads, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp lemon zest

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a 12-inch heavy skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add broccoli florets in a single layer and sear undisturbed for 2-3 minutes until golden-brown.
  2. Pour in the water and immediately cover with a tight-fitting lid. Steam for 2 minutes until broccoli is vibrant green, then remove the lid to allow remaining moisture to evaporate.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Move broccoli to the edges of the pan and add minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the center. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Toss the broccoli with the garlic, drizzle with low-sodium soy sauce, and sauté for 1 more minute until the liquid glazes the florets. Garnish with lemon zest before serving.
