Ingredients:
- 1.5 lbs broccoli heads, cut into bite-sized florets
- 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- 3 tbsp water
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp lemon zest
Instructions:
- Heat olive oil in a 12-inch heavy skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add broccoli florets in a single layer and sear undisturbed for 2-3 minutes until golden-brown.
- Pour in the water and immediately cover with a tight-fitting lid. Steam for 2 minutes until broccoli is vibrant green, then remove the lid to allow remaining moisture to evaporate.
- Reduce heat to medium. Move broccoli to the edges of the pan and add minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the center. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Toss the broccoli with the garlic, drizzle with low-sodium soy sauce, and sauté for 1 more minute until the liquid glazes the florets. Garnish with lemon zest before serving.
