Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) button mushrooms, cleaned and halved or quartered
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Clean the button mushrooms with a damp cloth and slice them into halves or quarters, depending on their size.
  2. In a large sauté pan, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Carefully add the mushrooms to the pan in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding for even cooking.
  4. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, without stirring too much, until the mushrooms are golden brown.
  5. Stir in the minced garlic and thyme; cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and lightly golden.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Toss to combine.
  7. Transfer to a serving dish, garnishing with fresh parsley if desired.
