Ingredients:
- 1 cup (120 g) cornmeal (preferably stone-ground)
- 4 cups (960 ml) water
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) salt
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) butter (optional)
- Maple syrup, honey, or agave nectar (for sweetness, optional)
- Brown sugar, cinnamon, or fresh fruit (for topping, optional)
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Gradually whisk in the cornmeal to avoid lumps.
- Add 1 teaspoon of salt and reduce heat to low.
- Cook the mixture, stirring frequently for about 10-15 minutes, or until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of butter, if using.
- Serve warm with desired toppings.
