Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (950ml) whole milk (or full-fat coconut milk for dairy-free)
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream (or full-fat coconut cream for dairy-free)
  • 6 ounces (170g) bittersweet chocolate, chopped (60-70% cacao)
  • 2 ounces (57g) milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (15g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

Instructions:

  1. Add milk, cream, chopped chocolate, sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon, chili powder, nutmeg, salt, vanilla extract, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the slow cooker.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours, or on high for 1-1.5 hours, stirring occasionally, until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is heated through.
  3. Whisk vigorously to ensure everything is fully combined and smooth. Ladle into mugs and serve with your favourite toppings.
