Ingredients:
- 4 large ripe bananas, sliced into rounds
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a 9x9 inch baking dish, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until the mixture resembles wet sand.
- Fold in the sliced bananas and lemon juice, spreading them evenly across the bottom of the dish.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Slowly stir in the milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter until the batter is smooth, taking care not to overmix.
- Pour the batter gently over the banana mixture without stirring the layers together.
- Bake on the center rack for 40–45 minutes, or until the edges are deep mahogany brown and the center is set.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
