Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) apple butter
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) brown sugar, packed
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) dark rum
  • 6 ounces (180 ml) boiling water

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine softened butter, apple butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  2. Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly until the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth. Do not boil.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the dark rum.
  4. Pour the mixture into a mug. Top with boiling water and stir well to combine.
  5. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a thin slice of apple (optional).
