Ingredients:

  • 2 medium oranges (about 300g total), sliced
  • 2 medium lemons (about 250g total), sliced
  • 2 medium limes (about 150g total), sliced
  • 4 cups water (960ml)
  • 3-4 cinnamon sticks
  • 4-5 whole cloves
  • 2-3 star anise pods
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (15-30ml, adjust to taste)
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Wash and slice the oranges, lemons, and limes into rounds.
  2. In a medium saucepan, add the sliced citrus, water, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. Stir in honey or maple syrup, adjusting to taste, and simmer for an additional 2 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat, strain the infusion through a fine mesh sieve into a serving pitcher or jug.
  7. Serve warm or chilled, garnished with fresh mint leaves if desired.
