Ingredients:

  • 1 (14.3 ounce) package Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies), Halloween-themed preferred
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening (Crisco) optional, for smoother melting
  • Assorted Halloween sprinkles (ghosts, bats, pumpkins, etc.)
  • Optional: Candy eyes, small candy bones, colored melting candy (for drizzling)

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set out sprinkles and decorations in small bowls for easy access.
  2. Combine chocolate chips and shortening (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Be careful not to burn the chocolate! Alternatively, use a double boiler.
  3. Dip each Oreo into the melted chocolate, coating completely. Use a fork to lift the Oreo out of the chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
  4. Place the dipped Oreo on the prepared baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle with Halloween sprinkles and add any other desired decorations (candy eyes, candy bones, drizzles).
  5. Refrigerate the chocolate-covered Oreos for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.
  6. Once set, the Oreos are ready to be devoured!
