Ingredients:
- 1 (14.3 ounce) package Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies), Halloween-themed preferred
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening (Crisco) optional, for smoother melting
- Assorted Halloween sprinkles (ghosts, bats, pumpkins, etc.)
- Optional: Candy eyes, small candy bones, colored melting candy (for drizzling)
Instructions:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set out sprinkles and decorations in small bowls for easy access.
- Combine chocolate chips and shortening (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Be careful not to burn the chocolate! Alternatively, use a double boiler.
- Dip each Oreo into the melted chocolate, coating completely. Use a fork to lift the Oreo out of the chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
- Place the dipped Oreo on the prepared baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle with Halloween sprinkles and add any other desired decorations (candy eyes, candy bones, drizzles).
- Refrigerate the chocolate-covered Oreos for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.
- Once set, the Oreos are ready to be devoured!
