Ingredients:

  • 1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix (110g)
  • 2 cups (473ml) cold milk
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (150g) chocolate sandwich cookies, finely crushed
  • 1 package (approximately 12-16) rectangle-shaped cookies
  • 1 container (16 ounces) whipped topping, thawed (450g)
  • Optional: Green food coloring
  • Optional: Tube of black decorating icing
  • Gummy worms or other Halloween candies

Instructions:

  1. Whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and cold milk in a mixing bowl until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract. Let stand for 5 minutes to thicken. If using green food coloring, divide the pudding and mix a few drops of food coloring to one of the puddings.
  2. Finely crush the chocolate sandwich cookies. You can use a food processor for a fine crumb or place them in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin for a more rustic texture.
  3. If using plain rectangle cookies, decorate them with the black decorating icing to resemble tombstones. Let the icing set before assembling the cups. You can write 'RIP' or funny epitaphs on them.
  4. Layer pudding into the bottom of each cup. Add a layer of crushed chocolate cookies. Top with a layer of whipped cream. Repeat layers until the cups are almost full.
  5. Sprinkle a final layer of crushed cookies on top of the whipped cream to resemble dirt. Insert the cookie 'tombstones' into the 'dirt.' Place gummy worms strategically around the tombstones. These graveyard pudding cups are a great spooky dessert.
  6. Refrigerate the pudding cups for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the pudding to set completely.
