Ingredients:
- 4 ripe plantains (yellow with some black spots) – about 900 grams
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (28 grams) or coconut oil (optional)
- Pinch of salt (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (12 grams) for extra sweetness (optional)
Instructions:
- Peel the plantains and cut them into ½-inch thick diagonal slices.
- Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and add butter or coconut oil.
- Add plantain slices to the skillet in a single layer without overcrowding.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
- Optional: Sprinkle with brown sugar during the last minute of cooking for additional caramelization.
- Season with a pinch of salt to taste and transfer the plátanos maduros to a serving platter.
