Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, add the brown sugar and molasses.
  2. Using a whisk or fork, blend the sugar and molasses until fully incorporated and a consistent texture is achieved.
  3. (Optional) Add vanilla extract and sea salt, mixing until evenly distributed.
  4. Ensure the mixture has a coarse yet sticky texture similar to demerara sugar.
  5. Transfer the substitute into an airtight container and store it in a cool, dry place.
