Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe plantains (blackened skin is ideal), peeled and sliced into ½-inch thick rounds
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Peel the plantains and slice them into even rounds.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Arrange the plantain slices in a single layer in the skillet. Cook until golden brown and caramelized on one side.
  4. Flip the plantain slices and sprinkle with brown sugar and a pinch of cinnamon (if using). Cook until golden brown and caramelized on the other side, and the sugar has melted and created a sauce.
  5. Sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy!
