Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground turkey (lean)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for grilling)
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Whole wheat burger buns (4)
  • Lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and avocado slices (optional toppings)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined; do not overmix. Form into 4 equal patties and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, lemon juice, lemon zest, dill, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste and set aside.
  3. Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat and brush with olive oil.
  4. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 5-6 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  5. Toast the burger buns on the grill if desired. Assemble the burgers with turkey patties, zesty yogurt sauce, and toppings. Serve immediately.
