Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground turkey (lean)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for grilling)
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Whole wheat burger buns (4)
- Lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and avocado slices (optional toppings)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined; do not overmix. Form into 4 equal patties and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, lemon juice, lemon zest, dill, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste and set aside.
- Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat and brush with olive oil.
- Place the patties on the grill and cook for 5-6 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Toast the burger buns on the grill if desired. Assemble the burgers with turkey patties, zesty yogurt sauce, and toppings. Serve immediately.
