Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks/226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 6 cloves garlic, minced (approximately 2 tablespoons)
- 1/4 cup (10g) fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 loaf (approx. 16 oz/450g) Italian or French bread, halved lengthwise
- 2 cups (225g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup (50g) grated parmesan cheese
- Sprinkle of garlic powder (optional)
Instructions:
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave. Add the minced garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine and let the flavors meld for a few minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the halved bread on a baking sheet, cut-side up.
- Brush the garlic butter generously over the cut sides of the bread. Sprinkle evenly with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden brown. Watch carefully to prevent burning!
- Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
