Ingredients:

  • 2.5 oz (75ml) Gin (London Dry)
  • 0.5 oz (15ml) Dry Vermouth (Dolin or Noilly Prat)
  • Optional: 1 dash Orange Bitters
  • Garnish: Lemon twist or Olive
  • Ice: Plenty of ice for chilling

Instructions:

  1. Chill your martini glass in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. Also, place your gin and vermouth in the freezer for a similar amount of time.
  2. Fill your cocktail shaker with ice. Add the gin, vermouth, and optional orange bitters.
  3. Secure the lid on the shaker. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until the shaker is very cold. Alternatively, stir the ingredients with ice in a mixing glass for about 30 seconds.
  4. Strain the martini into your chilled martini glass.
  5. Express the oils from a lemon twist over the martini and then drop it into the glass, or skewer an olive and place it in the drink, or both!
