Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lime, cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or 1 tablespoon simple syrup)
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) cachaça
  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

  1. Place the lime wedges and sugar in the bottom of a rocks glass or cocktail shaker. Muddle firmly until the lime releases its juice and the sugar dissolves. Don’t over-muddle.
  2. Pour the cachaça over the muddled lime and sugar.
  3. Fill the glass or shaker with ice.
  4. If using a cocktail shaker, shake well until chilled. If not, stir vigorously in the glass.
  5. Pour (or strain if you used a shaker) into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge, if desired.
