Ingredients:

  • 1 oz (30 ml) Jamaican Rum (Appleton Estate Signature Blend recommended)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Aged Rhum Agricole (e.g., Clement VSOP)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Fresh Lime Juice
  • ½ oz (15 ml) Orange Curaçao (Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao recommended)
  • ½ oz (15 ml) Orgeat Syrup (Small Hands or Liber & Co. recommended)
  • ¼ oz (7.5 ml) Simple Syrup (optional, adjust to taste - depends on the sweetness of your orgeat)
  • Lime wedge and spent lime shell
  • Mint sprig
  • Optional: Cherry (maraschino or Luxardo)
  • Optional: Pineapple wedge

Instructions:

  1. Place the Double Old Fashioned glass or Tiki mug in the freezer for a few minutes to chill.
  2. Add both rums, lime juice, orange curaçao, orgeat syrup, and simple syrup (if using) to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Close the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds, until well-chilled.
  4. Fill the chilled glass with crushed or cubed ice. Double strain the cocktail into the glass using a Hawthorne strainer or fine-mesh sieve to remove any ice shards.
  5. Garnish with a lime wedge and spent lime shell, a sprig of fresh mint, and optionally a cherry or pineapple wedge. Serve immediately.
