Ingredients:

  • 240ml (1 cup) Water, filtered preferably
  • 1 tablespoon (approx. 5g) Black Tea Leaves, strong variety (e.g., Ceylon, Assam) OR 2 Black Tea Bags
  • 120ml (1/2 cup) Milk, full-fat or your preferred alternative (e.g., oat, almond, soy)
  • 1-2 tablespoons (15-30ml) Sweetener, granulated sugar, honey, or your sweetener of choice to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat water in a saucepan until simmering (not boiling). Add tea leaves or tea bags. Steep for 5-7 minutes, adjusting time to desired strength.
  2. If using loose leaf tea, strain through a fine-mesh sieve. If using tea bags, remove them and gently squeeze any excess liquid.
  3. Gently heat the milk in a separate pan or in the microwave until warm but not boiling.
  4. Pour the warm milk into the brewed tea. Add sweetener to taste, stirring until dissolved.
  5. Taste the milk tea and adjust the sweetness or milk ratio to your preference. Add more tea for a stronger flavour or more milk for a creamier texture.
