Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks/227g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3-4 cups (360-480g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 1/4 cup (60ml) milk or heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt (1/8 teaspoon)
Instructions:
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the softened butter on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition until incorporated.
- Add the milk (or cream), vanilla extract, and salt. Mix on medium speed until smooth and creamy.
- If the frosting is too thick, add more milk, one tablespoon at a time. If it's too thin, add more powdered sugar, one tablespoon at a time.
- Continue to beat the frosting on medium-high speed for 1-2 minutes, until light and airy.
